FAQs
No, usually not.. You can directly see a physiotherapist in Brampton without a doctor’s referral. You can set an appointment straight away at our clinic. However, it is good to know that some insurance companies will need a doctor’s referral before they will reimburse. So, do consult with your insurer for clarity prior to receiving services.
In some cases, we do offer direct billing if your insurance company allows for it.
Most of the time, private insurance companies cover the cost of physiotherapy treatment, either 100 percent or around 80 percent. Sometimes there is a cap of 500 to 1000 dollars per year.. At Queen West Physiotherapy & Acupuncture, we collaborate some insurance companies that allow us to offer direct billing so that you do not have to go through any procedures or pay upfront.
You should never forget to bring along your insurance card, any doctor’s notes or reports if necessary and wear comfy clothes that will not restrict your movements during your first appointment. If you have any scans like X-rays or MRIs, bringing them might also be helpful (especially the written reports).
Primarily, the very first appointment includes a thorough discussion and physical evaluation. Your physiotherapist will listen carefully to your symptoms and how they came about and will go over with you the following: your pain, how you move and your lifestyle in order to find the source of the problem. Once you provide your consent, the first treatment will start in the same session.
The session count is different based on the condition (type and time that has elapsed), pace of recovery and the goal of the treatment. There are people who get better in just a few visits while others require longer term assistance. Your physiotherapist will develop a tailored treatment plan suitable for you.
Of course, there are appointments on the same day for our Brampton patients. You can call us or text us or even book a slot online to get the most suitable time that works for you.

It is important that you bring this referral with you on your first visit to your physiotherapist so that the communication between your doctor and physiotherapist is clear. It is also advisable for you to find out what your specific health coverage is for physiotherapy before making your first appointment. If you need help getting this information, you can call your insurance company (it may be listed in our useful resources) or simply call us and we will direct you to the right source.
This varies depending on your condition and its severity. You may only need two to eight visits in many cases. Sometimes, however, your condition may be a little more complicated and you may end up needing several weeks (two to three visits per week) before getting better. Generally, the less time you have had your symptoms, the quicker the recovery time.
On average, each treatment is between forty minutes and one hour. Your physiotherapist will be able to let you know more precisely once they have assessed you.

Once the appropriate paper work is completed, then more treatment visits can often be allowed.
